Just 1 month after the finalization of the competition for the head of the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH), an unexpected move has been made by the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, who has decided to remove his friend and former boss, Arben Kraja.
There is information within SPAK that the tensions between the two bosses, Dumani-Kraja, arose due to their disagreement regarding the candidacy of Joni Keta, who currently holds the position of deputy head of the BKH and aspires to officially become its head at the end of August 2025.
Joni Keta is a senior officer in this structure, where, together with veteran officers Adush Laha, Petrit Gjeçaj and Roven Bleta, he was transferred from the Serious Crimes Prosecution Office to the National Bureau of Investigation.
The figure of Joni Keta is preferred by the current head of SPAK, Altin Dumani.
Meanwhile, it seems that another name that is among the candidates is preferred by Arben Kraja, who, together with another member of the commission, Behar Dibra, has a decisive role in the Selection Commission for the head of the BKH.
This division of positions between the two leaders has led to the immediate decision to demote Arben Kraja and transfer him to a simple prosecutor in the economic crime sector.
The drastic move comes at a time when SPAK has already entered the frenzy of not only selecting the files of candidates for the head of the BKH (since the head of the BKH must be appointed by August 31, 2025), but also opening nominations for the new head of SPAK.
According to the Constitution of Albania, the mandate of the current head of SPAK Altin Dumani ends between December 16-19, 2025.
The "hit" of his ally Arben Kraja and the replacement of the Directorate of Foreign Relations with the name of prosecutor Donina Bejko, seems to have increased rumors and suspicions about building a "righteous" profile for Bejko.
Why not, this move and her rise to office will translate in the coming months into the official announcement of her candidacy for the new head of the SPAK Special Prosecution Office.
Since March 2021, Dorina Bejko has been seconded for 4 months by the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP) as part of the special SPAK structure.
Meanwhile, after the end of the 4-month command period, the KLP decided to appoint Dorina Bejko for a full 9-year mandate at SPAK, assessing her candidacy with 180 points.
Bejko left the position of Head of the Pogradec Prosecutor's Office to become a full member of SPAK, where throughout this time she has focused on investigative work in the sector against economic and financial crime.
Bejko now heads the Directorate of Foreign Relations at SPAK, while Arben Kraja takes her place as a simple prosecutor.
In the first three years when SPAK was headed by Arben Kraja, the Directorate of Foreign Relations was headed by prosecutor Ened Nakuçi. After his departure, Altin Dumani appointed Arben Kraja to head it.
But two and a half years after this decision, Dumani dismisses Krajë and appoints Dorina Bejko in his place in this directorate. /OraNews/
