Shemsi Prençi makes strong accusations against SPAK: It divides files for

Former senior police chief and candidate for MP Shemsi Prençi raised strong accusations of political influence over SPAK and double standards in investigating corruption and criminal cases in Albania.

According to him, the prosecution acts in a controlled manner. He said that the files are prepared and the attack only comes when Rama gives the green light.

" As soon as SPAK meets with issues involving MPs, ministers, and senior officials, it forms a faction and lets it sleep there and then unites it when the prime minister has something to attack. There are uses of politics towards SPAK and although I have repeatedly said I support SPAK, the investigation process is a difficult process, there are delays in investigating a case, such as this case that has been coming from Finland for 2 years. But as it was for 5 years, the problem raised by the British authorities for cigarette smuggling and would never have been attacked if the British had not raised the concern because this concern has been raised several times for the Albanian customs authorities, but it was categorically hijacked by politics and they could not act, " said Prençi.

According to him, SPAK operates with double standards. He said that in cases coming from Finland, Italy, Spain, France, Britain and all EU countries, SPAK is successful. But for the files in Albania, it conducts years and years of investigations.

" Surprisingly, we have some very hot issues in Albania that go beyond the 3 million of drugs, beyond the 36 million of cigarette smuggling, these tens of millions to hundreds of millions of euros that have to do with investments, with the abuse of public funds, without mentioning that it has become boring now to mention incinerators or road concessions. Albanian criminal groups are leaving no stone unturned, just like the mother party ," said Prençi.
