Journalist Artan Hoxha said on the Now show on Euronews Albania that at summer youth festivals that are organized mainly in coastal areas, a large amount of synthetic narcotics, mainly coming from Kosovo, are distributed.
He told the case of an Albanian caught in the port of Odessa transporting cocaine to Ukraine, as he said due to the conflict and the trauma faced by soldiers, the demand in that area has increased significantly.
"The growth of youth summer festivals, there is a tender for who gets access to supply it. The one in Shëngjin has 15 thousand people, in these cases when the activity ends the police make some arrests and catch some Kosovars there because they are the new operators in the market.
Cases where over 11 thousand doses of ecstasy were seized, in Kosovo it is bought for up to 3 euros, in Tirana it is sold for up to 40 thousand lek.
They are cheap, they are pills and very easy to traffic. In Europe, the place where the most cocaine is being sold is the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
I remember that as soon as the conflict started, an Albanian was caught from Fier in Odessa, he was transporting cocaine, which the soldiers consumed.
There is a society that is in trauma, it's them, how will they cope?
"Therefore, there has been an increase in demand in that area. The Albanians were in the port of Odessa, they found 30 kg on the spot and they were carrying 250 kg, which was the full load," Hoxha said.
