Lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu has called the new draft law "On real estate tax" submitted for public consultation by the government in August, which foresees a significant increase in property tax, unjust.
In an interview for "Euronews Albania" he said that this initiative of the government should have brought the people to their feet for a massive protest, since according to him the law is completely arbitrary and contrary to human rights.
"Today I expected that you there in Tirana, in Albania, would join a nationwide protest to oppose this draft law. If there is a reason that today the people should have filled the squares and should have abandoned the beaches, should have protested in front of the government and should have interrupted the holidays, it should have been for the first time in these 10 years of socialist government, of a the party that claims to represent the social system and the left, today everyone should be in the square because big and small, every Albanian, who breathes in the territory of the Republic of Albania, but also those who live abroad, but have a house, a dwelling, an immovable property, then they should strongly oppose this law, which is entirely arbitrators,", said Spahiu.
