The former director of SHISH, Visho Ajazi Lika, has explained the basic purpose of Russian policy in relation to the Balkans.
Invited to the show Balkan Talks on Euronews Albania, the former director of Shish said that the genesis of this relationship that Russia has created with the Balkans comes not only because of history, but also the fact that Russia has "exploited" the Balkans because it has always served as a bridge between East and West.
"History begins with the Russian empire. Russia has always had a special attention for the Balkans. The first reason is that the population of this country is Slavic-speaking and also of the Orthodox faith. The Balkans have been a connecting bridge between the West and the East, for this reason the interests of the great powers have always clashed. I would say that it has been treated as the backyard of the Russian empire ", said the former director of SHISH.
According to his point of view, the goal is not only to sabotage NATO and the West, but also the fact that Russia seeks to maintain alliances with the countries it previously had ties with, so that these countries do not come under genuine Western influence.
