Former Finance Minister Arben Malaj has spoken about Donald Trump's invitation for Rama to participate in the Peace Board for the administration of Gaza.
He stated that this is not a personal initiative, but a state invitation to over 100 countries. Malaj emphasized that Rama is trying to create myths to divert attention from real problems within the country, such as floods or the delay in reforms.
"We were in a difficult situation of natural emergency and it has not happened in my experience and studies that are done in other countries of the world. Natural disasters are the test of leadership. Chancellor Schröder was at his weakest point to get a second term and only the major floods in southern Germany, where he put on his boots and went from village to village and talked directly with the citizens, gave him the points that won him a second term.
"Now in this natural disaster, regardless of its size, as long as there were such huge floods, as long as there were such huge losses, it would not be natural for any prime minister of a country to go and stay for three days to receive a medal. The question was this medal after the Smart City contract was signed for which the United States of America and the European Union and NATO have great reservations in the field of security and why should the prime minister stay there for three days to make jokes with journalists?" he told "A2 CNN".
According to Malaj, our country does not deserve this governance model and this myth-mongering campaign.
"This country does not deserve this model of governance, this irresponsibility and this myth-mongering campaign that actually demystifies Edi Rama within his own country. Whoever will not tell him to his face, I am convinced that they will be the first to rise up against him as soon as they feel that his power will be reduced," Malaj said.
He emphasized that the head of government strives more for the international profile than for Albania. The former minister brings to attention the great failures of our country and emphasizes that those who serve Rama with servility are harming him.
"Those who serve the prime minister with servility in this case are damaging him, not denigrating him. The first is that every country can designate a representative. The second is that ratification is required. So, he can no longer hide the fact that Rama does a lot for his international profile, but this is not what they are defining in this case. Just as they are not defining the major failures that Albania has with the European Union for corruption in their funds. Initially, it was only agriculture. Now we have the investment for e-government," he said.
The former minister has also accused the prime minister of threatening the opposition and fueling a tense political climate, where the concept of "political enemy" rather than opponent prevails.
"For us, unfortunately, the concept of the political enemy operates in politics, not the opponent, not the competitor, but we always want to see the opposition of our country as weak as possible, as Berisha intended then, and now, unfortunately, this has turned into a culture copied even by the majority ," Malaj emphasized.
He called the majority's statements to the opposition on electoral reform a threat, while appealing for cooperation and political dialogue.
"The opposition cannot be threatened for two electoral reforms that if you don't come within seven days, we don't have a single hour to waste with you. No, we will waste hundreds of hours with each other to guarantee that Albanian politics is de-escalated, to guarantee that the reforms that are dragging on are carried out at all costs, to guarantee that we will return the lost funds to Albania in the agricultural sector alone, 155 million euros and we don't know how much they are for e-government, and to create a culture of national and power division. Every other personal victory that is being mythologized as if God has sent us from above, harms Edi Rama. If Edi Rama does not understand this, but likes this even according to his word, then this is a risk for the political developments of our country", concluded Malaj.
