The Assembly begins the new parliamentary session, where the focus is on major reforms, including electoral and territorial ones. Today, the session began with tensions, where as usual the opposition blocked the floor.
Earlier, President Bajram Begaj called on MPs for responsibility and balance in lawmaking, emphasizing the importance of supporting justice and implementing European standards. He underlined that their mandate is a contract of trust with citizens, which is measured by fair actions and deep reforms.
On the international scene, Donald Trump's invitation to Edi Rama to the Peace Board has sparked debate. Minister Spiropali denied any payment of $1 billion, while Tony Blair distances himself from the request for such payments. Putin has also been invited to the board, while former NATO chief Anders Rasmussen warned of the possible consequences of a US attack on Greenland. In this context, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has been proposed as a mediator to reduce tensions between the US and the EU, especially on tariff issues.
In the country, the Special Court postponed the hearing against Erion Veliaj, who is seeking access to the file. Meanwhile, in Durrës, for the escape of Altin Ndoc, the prison director was placed under arrest, while the institution's doctor was placed under house arrest. In Kosovo, following requests from parties, the CEC decided on a full recount of votes in 28 municipalities.
Tragic events also mark the world: in Iran, over 16,500 protesters have been killed and 330,000 others injured in repression; in Spain, the train accident near Adamuz has claimed the lives of at least 39 people, bringing three days of national mourning.
Sport also has a place on the agenda, with the list of the five most intelligent footballers in history: Andres Iniesta, Xavi, Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff and Lionel Messi, known for their vision, decision-making and genius on the pitch.
