Former prosecutor Eugen Beçi has spoken about the "Partizani" case, where the son-in-law of Sali Berisha, Jamarbër Malltezi, has been imprisoned, while the democratic leader has been ordered to appear.
In an interview for "Euronews Albania", Beçi emphasized that since Saturday, when Malltezi was arrested, we have entered a new era, stressing that senior officials, including former prime ministers or the prime minister, should be careful if they have adopted clientelistic laws .
"It will be necessary for the Special Prosecutor's Office that we are talking about today to come up with evidence and not with conjectures and deductions. In the event that a person who was a former prime minister or former president influenced the drafting of laws and legal acts, we must stick to the criminal point of view, and the criminal point of view recognizes only one principle, the connection between cause and effect and guilt.
In order to connect these three, the Prosecutor's Office will need to determine and prove in the following days whether or not these ministers were subordinates of the former prime minister. The prosecution must leave the civil-criminal conflict, it will have to determine that these violations are further than civil or administrative and above all we must understand that "we have entered a new era. "Every former prime minister and every prime minister of Albania with the standard that the Special Prosecutor's Office is setting should be careful when they have adopted clientelistic laws, laws with by-laws," he said.
