The hearing in the first instance court in Shkodër for the Russian crime boss Igor Kokunov, wanted by the International Interpol, specifically in Russia, has failed. The next session will be held on November 7 of this year.
Meanwhile, Kokunov's defense lawyer Isuf Shehu stated that the document for extradition was signed by the deputy general prosecutor of Russia and not by the prosecutor or the Minister of Justice in Russia and this contradicts the international convention.
Thus, the lawyer said that Kokunov has only one criminal offense for which he is suspected of being the leader of a criminal group, a provision that, according to the lawyer, is not recognized by Albanian law. The lawyer stated that asylum was requested in Albania for Kokunov because Russia is an insecure country that violates human rights.
Until November 7, it is expected to be clarified whether the document for extradition was signed or not by the Prosecutor General of Russia or by the Minister of Justice in Russia.

Crime boss Igor Kokunov, also known as "Vasya Bandit", escaped on February 22, 2022 from house arrest pending trial, Russian newspapers reported.
Kokunov is accused of crimes such as kidnapping, extortion, robbery, fraud and organizing illegal business.
Vasya Bandit was arrested by the Russian authorities in June 2020, he is also accused of coordinating criminals in the Sergiev Posad, Chekhov and Podolsk regions of the Moscow region for 27 years.
