Salmonella in chicken meat, the director of the National Food Agency tells what

The show "Opinion" stopped this Monday to discuss the release of 2.6 tons of chicken meat with salmonella in Albania. The Director General of the Albanian Food Agency, Manush Kullolli, was invited to the studio, where he explained the chronology of this event.

And so, on March 11, the sample was taken. He explained that according to the law, the quantity from which the sample was taken by the inspectors is blocked and remains at the border inspection point, and in case it is taken for a routine check, the quantity must be kept blocked by the commercial entity.

"The law also holds the food business operator responsible," said Kullolli.

Kullolli said that with the release of the analysis report from the Food and Veterinary Safety Institute, the AKU has taken the measure to go to the subject to conduct an inspection of this subject.

" The entity has not made any traceability document available, which is very important and the food business operator is obliged, based on the Council of Ministers' Decision on traceability for up to 3 years, to maintain traceability for each product. Traceability means identifying the product in every place in the territory where it goes ," said Kullolli.

Kullolli said that on the first day of the inspection team's visit, no documentation was presented by the entity.

" The General Directorate has set up a working group for tax investigation, knowing that Taxes have access to checks and verification of invoices ," said Kullolli.

According to the director of the AKU, the entity has submitted a traceability list with 154 business operators where the entity declares that this product has been distributed. Upon receiving this information, the General Directorate has set up two working groups.

" The first working group was created to identify these business operators throughout the territory of Albania. Inspection teams have been deployed to each entity. The second working group team has notified all these entities to gain time. The entities should be notified, the consumer should be notified and the product should be removed from the shelves ," said Kullolli.

But as the director of the AKU points out, looking at the traceability presented by the subject, on the second day they saw that it was “deficient, lame and irregular.” From this moment on, the case was referred to the prosecutor's office and is under investigation.
