The fire situation worsens in the Shengjin area. The flames at Rana e Hedhun have reached frightening proportions, covering the entire area. But the situation has now become even more critical, as the fire is advancing towards the coast, endangering businesses and everything else. In a nearby resort, the tents located on the edge of the sea were engulfed in flames.
From 07:00 in the morning of July 30, the intervention from the air by helicopter started, with the hope of neutralizing the flames, but the situation is getting worse.
Throughout the night, they worked to extinguish the flames, while many residents and tourists who were vacationing in this area at the height of the tourist season were evacuated. Smoke has covered most of the beach, while the fire is advancing towards the protected area of Rana i Hedhun.
The police have also blocked the road leading to the tourist area of Rana i Hedhun to avoid danger for residents and tourists.
A firefighter was injured while working to extinguish the flames. He fell and broke his arm. He was urgently sent for medical help to the Lezha hospital.
20 fire engines worked on the ground during the night from several cities, Lezha, Mirdita, Kamza, Tirana and Berati Fieri, Lushnja, Vau i Dejës and Shkodra. The operation throughout the night was attended by the Prefect of the District, the deputy mayors of Lezhë, the Director of Preparedness, the General Director of the MZSH in the UK, 3 vans of the FNSH, (1 Shkodra, 2 Tirana), the Director of the Local Police, Lezhë, as well as the force many police.
Meanwhile, residents of the area have come to their aid and are helping to put out the flames, while they are also using private water tankers.
The flames that fell on Mount Shengjin since the afternoon of July 28 were reactivated on Monday afternoon, and although it was intervened from the air with a helicopter, it was impossible to contain the flames. The fire first fell on the city of Shengjin, in the village of Mal Shengjin, and as a result of the intervention, it was brought under control, from the northwest side of the city. But the increase in wind reactivated the fire in the southern part.
