The crime in Pogradec shocked the country. 31-year-old Ilirjan Selmani killed his 52-year-old partner Kozeta Teço and then set fire to her apartment.
Initially, it was thought that the 52-year-old had died from asphyxiation, but after detailed investigations, new details were discovered, which shed light and gave another twist to the incident, with the 31-year-old as the suspected perpetrator.
Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço in "The Last Edition" summarized the entire serious event, analyzing the dynamics of this crime step by step.
He said that security cameras further assisted the investigation and that the quick work of the police solved the incident.
"The perpetrator made a well-thought-out plan, spread an alibi that did not fit the victim's apartment, but it turned out that it did. Initially, the police had doubts about this event because there were several fires and the security cameras showed that the only person who moved was this one. I do not think there was an accomplice. But I see that people who show strong emotional disorders also come as a result of drug use and show increased aggression and we need to take measures for this type of contingency," he said.
Further, Karamuço described this murder as "a crime of passion in the field of psychological disorders, but not of irresponsibility, and according to him, these are the effects that come from drugs."
Based on the investigations so far, the possibility that there are other people involved is not high, according to the forensic expert.
Another serious event that swept the country for several days was the murder of a 55-year-old man in Fier, an event for which three people have been arrested, a 26-year-old girl, the victim's wife, and a 55-year-old man. The latter is suspected of having an affair with the 26-year-old and being an accomplice in this serious crime.
However, in the latest testimonies given, mother and daughter have denied the crime in court.
"There was an accomplice in the incident due to the dynamics of the crime. And then the tabulations were also seen to reveal everything, and the attempts to change the evidence are in vain, as I can say that it is a solved event. These crimes speak of complex relationships in the family, but that does not justify the murder," said Karamuço.
