Lawyer Bledar Meminaj has expressed strong criticism of the new draft Criminal Code. He described the process as unprepared and unclear, questioning the clarity and quality of the legal document.
" At a minimum, this should have been divided into phases so that society could adapt. How can we act with 900 articles? Even we who are professionals and the judges who make decisions, keep the code in front of us, because we cannot remember everything by heart. We will have a lot of work here, and even lawyers will need advice ," said Meminaj.
According to him, the draft document is not only burdensome, but also poorly translated, leading to ambiguities and inconsistencies in content.
" For me, it's poorly translated. It was taken from a foreign language somewhere, but it was translated as if Google Translate was used, without any effort. It contradicts paragraph by paragraph ," he added.
Meminaj also raised concerns about the deadline for consultations with the public and lawyers on this draft law, considering the one-year period insufficient.
" If we only have a year of consultation time, it's too little. As a lawyer, this is the core issue for me ," he told A2 CNN.
