But this is not the only case when young people are pranksters of accidents resulting in loss of life. According to INSTAT, with the knock of autumn, 94.4% of accidents have resulted from the behavior of drivers, where young people in the 25-34 age group prevail.
"It has a lot to do with overconfidence. They don't have the right maturity. When they turn 18, they want a driver's license. That's where the bad is. It entered as a concept that I must have a driving license. A student does not need a driving license. They love it for bragging rights, and this bragging sometimes leads to disaster. Everything requires its own maturity", said Gëzim Hoxha for "TCH", road safety expert.
What is noticeable is the fact that of the 142 road accidents registered during the month of September, most of them happened on Monday.
"Monday is remarkable because it starts from 12:30 at night and continues. They come from festive places where they may have used alcoholic beverages and drive drunk and cause accidents," said Hoxha.
Likewise, the INSTAT data show that in the third quarter of 2024, the highest number of road vehicles is in the region of Tirana, accounting for 34.9% of the total road vehicles in the country, followed by the region of Durrës with 13, 5% of road vehicles. The expert is of the opinion that the more vehicles there are in circulation, the more the probability of accidents increases.
" The number of vehicles has increased. This requires a study of areas, where there are many accidents, the circulation of vehicles should be restricted. The car should be used when necessary, not to buy bread", according to him.
The districts with the smallest number of road vehicles are the district of Gjirokastra with 2.2% and the district of Kukes with 2.3% of the total road vehicles.
