The head of the Albanian Muslim Community, Bujar Spahiu, has reacted to the serious incident that took place in Shkodër, where a mother with 3 children allegedly jumped into the waters of the Buna River after her husband's violence.
Spahiu said that this event shows that the Albanian family is in crisis and not handling it properly makes such events repetitive and painful. He also said that abused women are ashamed to report.
Further, the head of KMSH emphasized that the family is the foundation of society and the woman is its basic element and as such, those who abuse and mistreat their wives will be humiliated in this world and the next.
"The tragic event that happened recently in Shkodër shows that the Albanian family is in crisis.
First, I want to express my condolences and those of the Muslim Community of Albania for the tragic loss of life of the mother and her three children.
This event is an alarm that the crisis involving the Albanian family is not being handled and addressed properly, this makes such events repetitive and painful.
Such events cannot really be predicted every time, but this case and similar to the one we have seen several times recently, shows that the links of the social and institutional chain are not working properly.
Victims of violence are still afraid to report.
The support of the people in the family circle, whether of the victims of violence, who are the women, or even with the family members of the perpetrators, who are the husbands, is also important.
No one who knows about such cases should remain silent. He should not see the problem as something that should be kept secret, thinking that it is a matter that belongs to "them" not "us".
Social services will have to serve as an awareness structure for such cases. As a structure that encourages and encourages victims of violence to report to the relevant institutions. But as such they can also often become services that highlight cases of negligence, when complaints are made.
Of course, religious authorities are also an extremely important element to make a valuable contribution to society, and we constantly do this.
Such cases have an urgent need for interactive treatment between all links of society.
The family is the foundation of society. The woman is its basic element.
Whoever abuses and mistreats his wives will be humiliated in this world and the next.
I pray to God that such events will never happen again and that the Albanian family will regain the lost skills of respect between spouses and mutual care", writes the head of KMSH.
