Jurgen Klopp is close to being appointed as the new coach of the German national team. According to reports, the German Football Federation (DFB) has taken decisive steps towards reaching an agreement, while the 58-year-old coach is expected to be presented next week as the successor to Julian Nagelsmann.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and his deputy Hans-Joachim Vacke met with Red Bull CEO Oliver Minclaff on Tuesday to reach a preliminary agreement on Klopp's release. The former Liverpool manager is currently under contract with Red Bull as Director of Global Soccer until 2029.

The final step towards formalization is expected to be a meeting between Mincliff and Klopp on the eve of the World Cup final in New York. During this discussion, the details of the coach's separation from the company will be determined, as well as the possibility of him continuing to contribute his expertise to Red Bull's sports projects even after leaving his current position.

Another issue that is expected to be discussed is the staff employed at Red Bull after Klopp arrived about a year and a half ago. Meanwhile, the German coach intends to bring his long-time assistant, Peter Krauiec, to the Mannschaft bench.

According to sources, Klopp will sign a four-year contract, valid until the end of the 2030 World Cup. It is not yet known whether the agreement will contain a clause allowing its termination in the event of an early elimination at EURO 2028 or failure to qualify for this tournament.

If there are no last-minute changes, Klopp will be officially introduced as the new coach of the German national team immediately after his return from the United States.

The German national team will start the new international season with four matches in the Nations League, where they will face the Netherlands (September 24, Amsterdam), Greece (September 27, Augsburg and October 4, Thessaloniki) and Serbia (October 1, Munich).
