'Skënderbej' Square is gradually filling with citizens as the clock approaches 19:00, when the 22nd mass protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office will officially begin. For three weeks in a row, Albania has not stopped shaking, and today is expected to be the peak of the civic mobilization, with the diaspora having "occupied" Tirana again to demand the unconditional resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
What began as an isolated call has now become a national movement. Protesters are not just demanding the removal of the government, but a deep cleansing of the political scene. Corruption, misgovernment, lack of accountability, and the mass exodus of young people from the country are now at the center of a discontent that has transcended any initial cause.
The diaspora, faithful to the motto "When Albania calls, the sons respond" , has descended en masse on the capital, showing that the revolt is not divided by borders. Their presence is a clear message: dissatisfaction with the government no longer knows compromises.
The rally will start at 7:00 PM at 'Skënderbej' Square, to then continue with a march towards the Prime Minister's Office, where citizens will once again confront the government, asking it to leave once and for all.
Today, the 22nd in a row, is seen as an important test for the continuity of this civic movement, which for three weeks has kept Albania in a state of tension and has called into question the entire political balance in the country. Everything is expected to be decided in the coming hours, as the square is filling up and the voice of the protesters is becoming increasingly powerful.
Albania is not waiting any longer!
