The criminalistics expert, Ervin Karamuço, invited to the "Review" show, commented on the effects of nitrous oxide balloons, one of the trending drugs in Albania.
Karamuço said that the effects of this type of toxic substance on the nervous system are irreversible.
He underlined that the use of this substance, which causes psychological dependence, can lead to paralysis of the nervous system.
Bringing attention to the ban made in Great Britain last year, he said that it is good that this type of debate is also held in Albania and that teenagers are made aware of not using this substance.
"Britain placed their qualification in the family of light but harmful drugs that should be taken off the market, or rather harmful toxic substances that should be taken off the market. At first when we saw it we said what is this kind of drug, we had nitrous oxide, they had nitrous oxide, but it's the same thing. This is only used in health matters, for dentists. We used to see these balloons at different parties in Albania, but we thought they were for decoration.
It is not addictive, but it is very dangerous as it causes irreversible neurological damage, as well as other organs. Until paralysis.
These are the concerns that have been raised in Great Britain in the past year. Should this debate come to Albania? All the better to start this debate and this is a very good incentive", said Karamuço.
