A new clash has erupted in Himara, this time on a much more serious scale than a local administrative conflict.
The Turkish Maarif Foundation, created by President Erdogan to replace institutions linked to the Gulen network (FETO), is attempting to open an educational institution in a highly ethnically sensitive area in southern Albania. This has prompted a strong reaction from the Democratic Union of the Greek Ethnic Minority, which has called the initiative a “danger to intercommunal coexistence.”
In a harsh statement, BMEG denounces the support that the Municipality of Himara is giving to the Turkish foundation project, describing the interim mayor of the municipality, Vangjel Tavo, as a “tool of the central government” and part of a broader strategy of controlling the territory, identity and consciousness of the local community. At the heart of the concern is not only the Turkish influence in education, but also the way in which the “Albanian state machinery” is using silent policies to create a foreign ideological and cultural presence in the south of the country.
The Maarif Foundation, directly funded by the Turkish state, has been promoted as an alternative to schools linked to FETO, a network that Ankara considers terrorist and which the United States has refused to declare as such.
The organization goes further, calling this initiative a "disguised form of state repression against the local community," directly linking it to the crackdown on Fredi Beleri and his removal as elected mayor of Himara.
The statement emphasizes that the projects are neither private nor philanthropic, but indirectly financed by Albanian taxpayers themselves, through dubious contracts, concessions and invisible financing schemes, making the Turkish intervention not only political but also "profitable" for the interests of the ruling clientele.

Promovimi i kulturës ,artit, arsimit, shëndetësisë, qofshin ato turke, greke, franceze,amerikane etj e pasurojnë trashëgiminë kulturore botërore dhe i bashkojnë e i miqësojnë popujt. Në Greqi shteti dhe kisha janë në simpiozë.
Maarif nuk eshte fondacion por eshte nje agjensi e mirfillte e sherbimeve sekrete e drejtuar nga Fidan Hakan, shefi i ketij sherbimi qe tashme ka veshur edhe kostumin e ministrit te jashtem te Turqise duke kombinuar veprimtarine agjenturore me ate “ dipllomatike “ per te realizuar axhenden neootomane te sulltanit Erdogan. Ne kete rast duan te mbjellin percarje dhe provokime duke goditur ne zemren e nje komuniteti me ndjeshmeri te larte religjoze e kulturore te krishtere orthodokse.
Ca percarje do mbjellin Turqit? Dhe mes kujt? Ne sna percan dot njeri se nuk e veme dene te paren. Grekomanet le te pirdhen ne greqi, si detyron askush te ndjekin shkolle turke.
