Rainfall and strong winds, Vlora is engulfed by storm A strong storm engulfed the city of Vlora on Tuesday evening, bringing intense rainfall, strong winds and electrical discharges, after several days characterized by high temperatures.
The city has been hit by strong winds and electrical discharges while holidaymakers have fled the beaches.
Rainfall has begun to fall heavily in the city and surrounding areas, while strong winds have accompanied the unstable weather. So far, no significant damage or injuries have been reported, while authorities are monitoring the situation.
Meanwhile, bad weather, strong winds and heavy rain, has also affected the north of the country.
In the Kukës region, strong winds caused problems in the electricity distribution network, mainly in the Has Municipality. According to OSHEE Kukës, the village of Nikolić and the Fajzë Administrative Unit were left without electricity after an oak tree fell on a medium-voltage line, while in some areas transmission poles were also damaged.
Meteorologists had earlier warned that a powerful storm system would sweep across the Western Balkans. According to forecasts, the most at-risk areas were southern Croatia, southern Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Kosovo, while Albania was included in the Level 1 risk, where heavy rainfall, strong winds, lightning and, in specific areas, hail were expected.
