Rama's visit to Athens, the analyst: He is using the diaspora for electoral

Analyst Ergys Mërtiri has commented on Rama's visits with Albanian immigrants in Europe, but also Basha and Meta soon.

He says that Albanian politics uses the diaspora to get electoral votes inside the country, since it does not solve any problems for them outside.

"This is PR, the government wants to show that they care about immigrants and have strong ties with people across the country, but they don't actually do what they need to do. It is a matter of concept, but there is no debate here. They do not say that they are against the vote for immigrants, they say that they are in favor and in the end no one gives the vote to immigrants.

This to me is hypocrisy. I see it as instrumentalization of the diaspora as long as it does nothing for them, but meets with them. I use it to account for internal politics. The state must create mechanisms so that Albanians abroad do not suffer. He makes meetings with those outside to get the votes of those inside", said Mërtiri for "Report TV".

Regarding the positions of the SP-PD regarding the extension of the mandate of the SPAK head and other prosecutors, Mërtiri is of the opinion that this should be approved.

"Mr. Basha has long been positioned in favor of SPAK. And this is seen since none of the official Democratic Party has any business with SPAK. They are not the threatened part, the old part of the DP have gone to Mr. Berisha and the opportunities to be threatened are there. The government has clearly shown opposition to the extension of the mandate.

I think it should. SPAK is producing reaction among Albanians, it is actually fighting corruption. Good start, we were quite late because nothing was done in the first term before Duman came. The procedure for the extension of the mandate should be opened. SP is obviously hindering SPAK", said Mërtiri.

He adds that Meta and Berisha have an open war with SPAK, as the latter is fighting corruption.

"Meta and Berisha have a direct fight with SPAK. They don't care that there is a serious institution that is fighting corruption. They do not intend to fight corruption, because they would have done it. They are not even interested in making an opposition. Since SPAK is the only one that is opposing the government, bringing before justice a part of the prime minister's associates", the analyst emphasizes.
