The document that forced the mayor of Himara, Blerina Bala, to resign has been disclosed...

New details have been published regarding the sudden resignation of the acting mayor of the Himara Municipality, Blerina Bala.

According to a document provided by 'Pamphlet', two days ago Bala gave an order to suspend the works of entities that have been granted a construction permit by the Himarë Municipality in the tourist area of this municipality for the period 03.06.2024 to 30.09.2024 .

The document also states that this order is made with the aim of ensuring a stable season, creating a friendly environment for local and foreign vacationers, eliminating noise and pollution resulting from constructions.

But apparently, someone did not like this situation where the suspension of works was ordered and forced the mayor Bala to leave by announcing the decision as resignation.

The acting mayor of Himara Municipality, Blerina Bala, has resigned today.

"For personal reasons that require my time and full attention, I regret to inform you of my inability to continue the office of Mayor of Himarë that was entrusted to me by the Himarë Municipal Council. With this letter, today I officially submit my irrevocable resignation from the position of the Mayor of Himara", Bala is said to have said.

Please note that on March 29, 2024, the Municipal Council of Himara voted Blerina Bala as the new elected mayor amid tensions. With 15 votes in favor and 4 against, the Council decided that Blerina Bala will exercise the duties of mayor until new elections are held.

The command of Blerina Bala at the head of the Municipality of Himara came after the resignation of Jorgo Goros, who was arrested by the Special Prosecutor's Office on the charge of abuse of office for the alienation of 2 properties. Meanwhile, Fredi Beleri, who was elected mayor on May 14, is serving a 2-year prison sentence for the crime of vote buying.

Himara remains without a leader again, while according to the law on the functioning of the local government, it will be the Municipal Council of Himara that will meet to vote and command another leader until the elections are held.

The 2 names discussed to take the lead are Pervin Gjikuria and Arqile Bollano.
