The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, made a strong statement yesterday, where he stated that some media owners and analysts are putting pressure and blackmail on him, asking for construction permits and other benefits.
He mentioned Baton Haxhiu, stating that he is not wanted in Kosovo and not anymore in Albania. He also mentioned several owners of portals, as he also stated that Ben Reli is among those fined, as he asks the Zoo for a construction permit for a portal.
" It is enough to watch the news shows yesterday and you understand that one of our merits is that we have gathered all the scum together as enemies. Each of the analysts has requested something from the Municipality of Tirana. He knows what Ben Reli asked about that portal that is not allowed in the zoo. The other one knows what he asked for the polls that he does not do and invoices unnecessary figures, and when they do not want him in Kosovo, in Albania we still look at him with contempt ", he said.
But who is Arben Reli?
Referring to a saga of files in the police, the prosecutor's office and the courts, Arben Reli is a character with significant and diverse criminal activity, mainly in the field of document forgery, money laundering, illegal construction, extortion, fraud with serious consequences, crimes environmental etc.
Arben Reli is the head of a criminal gang, which operates from Korça to Tirana, while the money gained from criminal activity is invested in construction.
On March 10, 2021, the Court of Tirana sentenced Arben Relin to 9 months in prison for the criminal offense of falsifying documents in connection with the corrupt legalization of several facilities in Tirana.
" From the verification of the entire administrative procedure followed to carry out the legalization of some self-declared objects by the citizens Esli and Anri Reli (the two sons) it has resulted that from the audit conducted on the practice followed, a set of serious legal violations have been verified ", it is stated in the decision of the Court of Tirana.
In February 2016, Arben Reli was arrested by the police after finding that work was continuing in the villa complex built by him, despite the fact that the municipality of Farka had suspended his right to continue working.

In 2019, Afrim Ismailit, former director of ALUIZNI Tirana-Rural, was arrested, who had illegally legalized three unbuilt villas in the Farka area by Arben Reli.

In 2020, Arben Reli was declared wanted by the Korça Prosecutor's Office for construction without permission, abuse of office and falsification of documents.
According to the file, Arben Reli had started in 2017 building the "Montrelux" resort in Morava, one of the most beautiful areas of Albania, without permission and on someone else's land.
The crime is multiple, since in addition to construction without permission, forests have been razed, roads have been opened and parking lots have been created in a tourist area.
The chief prosecutor of Korça, Dhorina Theodhori, accused Arben Relin of illegal construction and forest cutting.
In March 2022, the Prosecutor's Office of Korça referred to the court a file for the "Montrelux" resort, built by Morava Resort and Arben Relit.
"After going to the 'Morava' or 'Montrelux' complex, the surveillance of the place under investigation was documented. From the inspection, it appears that there were fresh construction works, additions, warehouses, installation of gas plants, cutting of pine trees and pouring of concrete on top of them", says file 664 for Arben Relin.
Further, the prosecutor's office writes that the opening of roads and a wall at a considerable distance were found. " In this place, metal scaffolds, which were placed for work, iron grills, etc., were also found ", writes the Prosecutor's Office of Korça.

The fact that he builds villas, bars and resorts from Korça to Tirana without permission raises strong suspicions of money laundering in construction.
