Iran's deputy foreign minister has claimed that Donald Trump's threats to destroy power plants and bridges in Iran could constitute war crimes.
"The American president, as the highest-ranking official of his country, has publicly threatened to commit war crimes," Kazem Gharibabadi said in a post on X, citing provisions of international law that could be violated.
"The threat to attack power plants and bridges (civilian infrastructure) is a war crime under Article 8(2)(b) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court," he said, quoted by AFP.
Gharibabadi also warned that Iran would "deliver a decisive, immediate and regrettable response to any aggression or imminent threat."
Meanwhile, 13 people have lost their lives after a reported attack in Qaleh Mir, in Baharestan County, a densely populated area in Tehran Province.
According to the Iranian Fars News Agency, which has been quoted by international media, United States and Israeli forces bombed two residential units, causing casualties and extensive material damage.
The governor of Baharestan announced that search and rescue operations are still ongoing, while teams are working to clear the rubble and find possible people trapped under it.
