A part of the "Orly" airport in Paris was evacuated today after a bomb alarm.
"A person called the police around 18:00 saying he had placed a bomb in the toilets at the airport," said a police source.
Terminals 2 and 3 are mostly emptied to allow the police, especially specialist services such as dog brigades, to inspect the premises.
In the evening, the situation was completely normalized, French media reported.
"I've never seen an evacuation like that," said one dispatcher, surprised. “People were running in the parking lot, a taxi driver reported. The police asked them to leave."
After the situation calmed down, most people were smiling again.
They just asked us out. There were a lot of us, says Catherine, a resident of Draveil (Essonne). She had gone to the airport to pick up a relative returning from Ajaccio.
"We saw our family members arrive, who were evacuated while waiting for their luggage. Since then they have been back to collect them and we are waiting for them!”
On Wednesday evening, a Transavia flight from Paris-Orly to Montpellier was grounded for several hours after a false bomb alert. The flight ended up being cancelled.
"This is the third alarm in three weeks," says a source.
