WHO raises the alarm: 32 dangerous viruses, the bird flu also reappears

The climate changes that are happening affect the behavior of viruses which increase the morbidity in the population.

The World Health Organization has updated the list of pathogens that have an increased risk of causing a new pandemic in the future, since West Nile Fever which has increased the number of cases, but also the mutation suffered by Monkey Pox which it is now transmitted from person to person through close contact or touching infected items and does not appear only in Africa.

The WHO has listed 32 viruses and bacteria, while only 9 were previously estimated. The new list includes pathogens such as cholera vibrio, some bacteria that have a high percentage of resistance to antibiotics such as Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Diseases transmitted by vectors such as tropical fever, chikungunya have also been introduced. Avian flu is also coming to the attention of the WHO, since with the decline of immunity, this virus can cause a pandemic if it is not kept under control.

Added to these are the threats that come from Ebola, the Zika virus and other viruses that belong to the Sars Cov 2 family. A committee of 20 scientists appointed by the WHO has analyzed more than 1,600 pathogens over the past two years to identify potential threats and that require the attention of governments so that they are not caught unprepared as happened with the Covid-19 pandemic. .
