The United States' decision to sanction Antal Rogan, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff, "is an act of personal vendetta on the part of the ambassador (David Pressman) sent to Hungary by the failed American administration, who is now leaving without success and without glory".
This is what Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said.
"How fortunate that in a few days the United States will be led by people who consider our country a friend and not an enemy," said Szijjártó.
Hungarian government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs announced in a tweet "legal action" against the announced measures.
