Vučić's fear and the fight against public opinion polls

Vučić's fear and the fight against public opinion polls

As the Serbian political scene oscillates between dictatorship and civil war, something has emerged that gives hope that it will be possible to avoid both, and that is war according to the results of public opinion polls.

That is, after many years, various polls on party ratings appeared in Serbia, which is an important fact.

Although the extraordinary elections demanded above all by the informal group Students on the Blockade and the demonstrators among the over 30,000 street protesters held this year in Serbia, have not yet been announced, political actors are acting as if they had been announced.

And an important and new fact is that, and empirically measured, the elections that will follow are neither certain nor predictable, as were all of Vučić's elections over the ten years, from 2014 to 2024.
That the winner is not certain and that public opinion is in doubt about whom to trust, is also evidenced by the great attention in the pro-government media caused by the fact that the little-known agency Sprint Insight gave its results.

When they were announced, it was not like in previous years, with mockery and derisive statements from the top of the SNS, but there was a serious effort to cancel them.

The writings that the agency does not actually exist, that it is fictitious, showed how much uncertainty exists in Vučić's SNS and its influence on the regime's media.

And secondly, not long after, for the first time in many years, the renowned Ipsos agency made public its findings on party ratings in Serbia.

It might have been better for Vučić's government if they hadn't come out, because even though the method may or may not be objectionable from an expert's point of view, the fact that they measured the so-called student list by five percent proves that Vučić's words are no longer convincing.

Although his claims need to be constantly supported, this shows that at the present moment, changes are possible, just like in the old years when Ipsos often came out publicly with assessments against the government.

And the opposition public, instead of getting upset about the fact that Ipsos measured the student list ten times less than Sprint Insight, not even including it in the rounding table, because the list does not officially exist, Vučić would do better to take it into account.

If only five percent of respondents wrote "students" on the board, this means that there is still a problem with recognition, the neglect of which could mean loss./ Adapted from "Pamphlet" by "Danas"
