In Bosnia and Herzegovina, rescue teams have continued searching for missing persons after the floods.

Due to rains and landslides on Thursday and Friday in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at least 16 people died and many others were injured.

The Government of the Herzegovina and Neretva District (HNK) said on October 5 that 13 dead bodies were found in the territory of this canton and not 16, as was said the day before. Authorities explained that three victims were counted twice.

Twelve of the victims in this district were from Donja Jabllanica and one from Konjiqi. Six people are considered missing in Jabllanicë and four others in Konjiq

The authorities in Jabllanicë have reported great material damage, as construction machines on October 5 are working to remove stones and rubble.

As a result of the natural disaster, some villages continue to be blocked due to damage to the road infrastructure. Also, due to the floods, the local elections in Jabllanicë, Konjiq, Kishelak and Kreshevo have been postponed. This is what the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided on October 5.

In Fojnica, the holding of elections has been postponed in three polling stations.

The decision to hold elections in these municipalities will be made after meeting the conditions for holding them, the authorities said.

Local elections in Bosnia are scheduled for Sunday, October 6. In addition to Bosnia, there have been floods in other countries of the region in recent days, including in Albania, Montenegro and Croatia. /rel
