Hezbollah ultimatum to Israel: Withdraw unconditionally from Lebanon

Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Kassem declared that Israel must withdraw completely and unconditionally from Lebanese territory.

"There is no other choice left for Israel than to withdraw completely from every inch of our Lebanese territory. Israel must leave unconditionally," Kassem said in a televised speech.

He added that Israel's presence in Lebanon is not related to Hezbollah's rockets, but to, in his opinion, Israel's aim to occupy and control the country.

Referring to the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, Kassem called it an "official declaration of defeat" for Washington and Tel Aviv.

"Iran managed to stand firm and reach this memorandum of understanding, which constitutes an official declaration of defeat for America and Israel," he said.

The speech was delivered on the occasion of Ashura, the day of mourning in Shiite Islam that commemorates the death of Imam Hussein.

According to Kassem, the opponents aimed for a broad war to "eliminate the existence" of Hezbollah, but the organization, according to him, managed to stop the offensive.

"We stopped this aggression and achieved a great victory. We have destroyed the Israeli-American plan and entered a new phase," he declared.

As talks between Israeli and Lebanese officials continue in Washington, Kassem said Hezbollah will not accept "any normalization of relations, any lifting of the state of hostility, any benefits for Israel, and any presence, even partial, on Lebanese territory."

"Israel must leave humiliated and defeated, and that is what will happen," he said.

Kassem called on members of the Lebanese government to unite their positions against Israel and not to act, according to him, in line with the interests of the United States and Israel.
