Monaco authorities have identified the woman suspected of the bombing of Ukrainian oligarch Vadim Ermolaev. According to the investigation, she is about 30 years old, has Ukrainian citizenship, lives in Germany and has the ability to disguise herself to look like a man.
Three days after the attack, Monaco police, in collaboration with French authorities and other European security services, released information about her identity and launched a search in several countries. It was initially rumored that she may have fled to Italy, but investigators do not confirm this scenario.
According to French media, the identification was made thanks to a witness who had contact with her during the preparation of the assassination or during the observations she had carried out near the target's apartment. Investigators suspect that they were also able to track the signal of the phone she was carrying with her.
Security camera footage shows that the woman had been monitoring the movements of Vadim Ermolaev, his partner Anna Nasobina and their 13-year-old son for several days. On Monday evening, shortly before 9 p.m., she followed them closely, passed them on the street and placed a package with explosives in front of the entrance to the palace.
As the family approached the apartment, she stepped back a few meters, waiting for them to enter the building. The 13-year-old boy entered first and suffered minor injuries. As Anna Nasobina walked past the bomb, the perpetrator activated the explosives with a remote control. The woman was more seriously injured by the explosion and, according to authorities, both of her legs were amputated.
The investigation is focusing on two main leads: the involvement of organized crime groups or Ukrainian secret services. Authorities have not yet given a definitive version of the motive for the attack, while the search for the perpetrator's arrest continues at the European level.
