Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has vowed that the conflict in Gaza will continue until Israel achieves its goals, despite international pressure.
" The war will end when its goals are achieved. I take into account everything that the US asks and says and I take seriously, along with all the members of the cabinet, what America is doing ," he said at a press conference.
Some countries have called for a full ceasefire, while others have pressed Israel to end its operation soon. Gallant said Hamas' Jabaliya and Shejaiya battalions in northern Gaza are on the verge of being dismantled. He said Israeli forces had surrounded the Palestinian militant group's "last strongholds" in the area.
" Hundreds of Hamas operatives have surrendered in recent days, which shows what is happening to the group. Those who surrender are spared and they have told us very interesting things ," he added.
