Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis went viral after announcing that he had bought an expensive globe to see where Greenland is.
" I bought this globe for 15,000 kronor (617 euros), a big and beautiful globe, to see exactly where Greenland is ," Babis told reporters when asked what his government's stance was on the US president's ambitions for this autonomous Danish territory.
On Tuesday, the self-proclaimed billionaire "Trumpist" went even further, in a video he posted on Facebook, in which he praised the globe in comparison to "flat" maps that he claims distort geographical reality.
" On this beautiful globe we can see the real size of Greenland compared to the US and Europe. And Russia is close by, and if there were a conflict, God forbid, the missile wouldn't have to go far ," he added.
Social media users were quick to mock him, both for the price of the globe, ten times higher than the price such objects usually have in the Czech Republic (400-1,000 crowns), and for his statements.
" The scammers strike again. They sold a globe to a naive pensioner for 15,000 kronor ," the caption of one cartoon read.
