International media reports powerful explosions, Dubai denies...
The conflict between the United States and Iran appears to be entering a new and more dangerous phase, with clashes expanding beyond Iranian territory and increasingly affecting the countries of the Persian Gulf.
On Thursday evening, eyewitnesses reported loud explosions in the center of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, while, according to initial reports, missiles were intercepted over the city.
According to The Times of Israel, the explosions occurred at a time when the US continues to attack Iranian targets and, according to reports, several Gulf states have also been involved in military operations against Iran. At the same time, Tehran has intensified retaliatory attacks on countries in the region that host US bases and troops.
Euronews, citing its journalists in Dubai, also reported that powerful explosions were heard over the city center, while air defense systems allegedly intercepted Iranian missiles.
These developments come just weeks after a ceasefire between the US and Iran and a framework agreement reached in mid-June to end the war. However, the situation has rapidly deteriorated. Just days earlier, Iran attacked two United Arab Emirates ships in the Strait of Hormuz, signaling that it is ready to expand the conflict into strategic oil shipping lanes.
The recent escalation has raised fears that the US-Iran conflict could escalate into a regional war with far-reaching consequences for security and global energy markets.
However, the Dubai Government Media Office denied reports of explosions, calling them "inaccurate."
" Reuters's report of explosions in downtown Dubai is false and contains inaccurate information. We urge the media and the public to rely only on official and reliable sources, verify information before publication, and avoid spreading rumors or inaccurate reporting ," the statement published on the X platform said.
There is no independent confirmation yet of the nature of the reported explosions, while the situation in the Middle East remains extremely tense, with concerns that the clash between Washington and Tehran is entering a new phase of escalation.
