George and Alex Soros

Billionaire tycoon and major Democratic Party supporter George Soros, along with his son Alex, have spent a whopping $102.8 million in the US midterm election cycle, making the family one of the main architects of the party's shift to the radical left...

With the November election still more than four months away, George Soros could break his previous record of $128 million, set during the midterm elections four years ago, when he was the largest individual donor.

"Money talks, and Soros' money says the most insidious, unconstitutional, and costly tax increases in American history are on the table," said Douglas Kellogg, director of state projects at Americans for Tax Reform.

He added that Soros is "an aspiring James Bond villain," whom he holds responsible for the radical takeover of the Democratic Party.

Only a small portion of this election cycle's contributions, $793,800, were given in the 95-year-old donor's name, according to an analysis of public Federal Election Commission (FEC) records.

Almost all of the $102 million has been channeled through the Democracy Political Action Committee (Democracy PAC), the super PAC founded by Soros in 2020, which serves as the family's main political arm and, according to the article, makes it more difficult to identify candidates supported by the family.

Of this amount, just over half, $52 million, came from George Soros through the private company Geosor, while the other $50 million was provided by the Fund for Policy Reform, a non-profit organization where Alex Soros appears as a director in tax documents.

And that's without including the family's main organization, the Open Society Foundation, as well as its lobbying arm, the Open Society Action Fund, which, according to the article, is not required to publish political spending because it is registered as a non-profit organization that declares that it only engages in advocacy activities.

In previous election cycles, Open Society Action Fund funds have been directed to groups supporting left-wing figures such as Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), part of the group known as "Squad," and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MIN). However, the organization's 2025 tax returns are not yet available.

According to the article, Soros has given more than $15 million to pro-Hamas organizations that he said were behind the protests on campuses; funded groups that, according to the article, supplied anti-ICE protesters at Delaney Hall last month with military equipment; spent more than $7 million to support bills that the article describes as soft on crime.

"The Soros family is angrier than ever with American politics," Parker Thayer said, adding that "they would rather transform America into something completely different."

The Soros family's network of foundations has denied being a terrorist organization, insisting that its mission is to strengthen democracy.

Like his son, George Soros also gave the maximum contribution to Graham Plattner. Father and son also gave $7,000 each to Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-Washington), who the article claims admitted last month to smuggling oil into Cuba despite the US blockade.

"There are two certainties in life: death and George Soros writing Democrats a blank check," said Republican National Committee spokeswoman Delanie Bomar. According to her, they don't have the money or resources that Republicans have, so they are relying on a billionaire's dark money.

According to a Washington Post analysis cited in the article, George Soros' contributions make him the largest individual donor of the 2026 midterm elections. The analysis also compared 49 other donors.

George Soros, born in Budapest to a Jewish family, moved to the United Kingdom after surviving the Nazi occupation of Hungary. He later founded his first investment fund and became known as "the man who broke the Bank of England" after making an estimated $1 billion speculating against the British pound during the event known as "Black Wednesday" in 1992.

Hungary passed laws known as "Stop Soros" in 2018, which forced the Open Society Foundations to relocate its European operations to other countries.

His son, Alex Soros, a graduate of New York University, was single for a long time before marrying Huma Abedin, a former adviser to Hillary Clinton, in a lavish ceremony in the Hamptons last summer.

Among the guests at the wedding were Vogue magazine editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, as well as former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

A spokesman for the Soros family declined to comment for the article. /Adapted from Pamphlet /
