"I am ashamed of my country... No more war, no more Auschwitz", is the title on the front page of the German newspaper "Die Zeit", where the veteran of the Greens, Joska Fischer, gave an interview.
Fischer's statements in the German newspaper have caused waves in the Eurozone locomotive.
After criticizing the coalition government's policy (which includes his own party) on the war in Ukraine, Fischer said he not only felt ashamed of his country's stance on Russia's war against Ukraine, but also said things that shocked Germans.

The former German foreign minister was quick to justify his meltdown by citing the raging war in Ukraine and particularly strained relations between the Kremlin and Washington.
Joska Fischer called on Europe to arm itself with its own nuclear weapons.
"The EU needs its own nuclear deterrence. Should the Federal Republic of Germany have nuclear weapons? No. Europe? Yes. Our world has now changed. Putin is often using nuclear blackmail. "The arsenals of the nuclear powers of Western Europe, France and Great Britain, are not sufficient as a response to the new world order," emphasized Fischer.
Fischer's party, the Greens, has strongly opposed Europe's nuclear armament since its inception.
The 75-year-old politician also expressed hope that the United States and Europe will remain united.
"But what will happen if Donald Trump is re-elected in the USA?", was asked by Die Zeit.
"Even with this scenario in mind, Europe must take this issue seriously. Since we have a neighboring Russia that follows Putin's imperial ideology, we cannot stand idly by.
