After the devastating floods that hit the Emilia Romagna area in Italy, bad weather with rain and flooding has returned to the Macerata area.
Italian media reports that Macerata and its province were hit in the late afternoon by heavy rains that lasted for almost three hours, which caused flooding of roads, garages, basements, and also the fall of trees.
The situation was particularly critical in the villages of Villa Potenza and Sforzacosta, where several people were evacuated from the lower floors of buildings and forced to climb to higher ones, as streets and premises were flooded.
The city hall warned the residents that due to the abnormal rainfall in the city, some arterial roads are blocked, while advising that the use of the car and leaving the house should be only in very necessary cases.
Residents were also warned to stay on the upper floors of the buildings, while the schools of Villa Potenza and Sforzacosta will be closed today to carry out appropriate checks and make any adjustments.
