
A devastating flood has hit the small towns of Kerrville and Hunt in Texas after the Guadalupe River burst its banks, sweeping away homes, vehicles and entire neighborhoods. At least 24 people have died and dozens are missing.
The City of Kerrville has issued a new flood warning, while announcing that the threat of heavy rainfall and flooding continues in some parts of the county.
"Additional rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm and in isolated cases up to 25 cm are possible within the flood warning area," the City of Kerrville said in a Facebook post, citing the National Weather Service.
The announcement also states that "it is not known for certain which area exactly this storm will pass through."
These floods are expected to occur until Saturday at 7:00 PM CDT (1:00 AM BST).
A family of four is reported missing after their Kerrville home flooded. A trailer park in the Ingram area was also completely flooded, with residents still inside.
Many roads have become impassable, while water has also covered low-lying areas. The city of Kerrville has declared a state of emergency and a collection center for affected residents has been set up in the parking lot of a local supermarket.
While the power outage has left more than 2,600 homes without power in Kerrville, Center Point and Hunt.
