Three more bodies were found in Texas in the past few hours, bringing the death toll from devastating floods that hit the US state on Friday to 109. The victims include dozens of children attending a summer camp that was hosting about 750 people.
Rescue teams continue the search for missing people, often in adverse conditions.
In Kerr County alone, which suffered the most damage, 86 dead (56 adults and 30 children) have been found, as Sheriff Larry Litha said at a press conference, clarifying that more than 20 bodies have not yet been identified.
Democratic lawmakers are calling for an investigation into whether job cuts at the National Weather Service (NWS) affected its response to the deadly flooding. A New York Times report on Saturday said NWS offices in Texas were understaffed.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt assured on Monday that the US weather service issued "timely and accurate forecasts and warnings" regarding the risk of flooding in the region.
US President Donald Trump plans to visit some of the affected areas in Texas, possibly on Friday.
