Who would have thought that in 2025 there would still be a country keeping its land borders closed due to a pandemic.
Five years ago, the entire planet was living in a pandemic rhythm. Masks, quarantines, tests, travel restrictions. Countries were closing their borders, people were staying at home, and daily life seemed to have frozen.
Today, all of this seems like a distant past.
The measures have been lifted, tourism has returned dynamically, and life flows as if the shock of 2020 had never happened. But there is one place that seems to be lagging behind the times.
Azerbaijan is the only exception in the entire world. While all countries have been opening their land borders for years, the government in Baku has decided to extend until January 1, 2026 the special quarantine regime that has been in effect since the spring of 2020.
Thus, Azerbaijan remains the only country that continues to keep its land borders closed due to the pandemic.
What does this decision mean in practice?
Entry and exit of the country is only possible by plane, with limited visitors at airports. Land travel is prohibited for tourists and travelers, with only exceptional cases, such as the transport of goods, permitted. This is a measure that few would have expected to be in force in 2025, when the entire international community has been leaving restrictive measures behind for three years.
And yet, Baku insists on preventing the possible effects of the pandemic and maintains a special isolation, which is strange and surprising in a world that has returned to normal. It is a political choice that, beyond the health dimension, also carries a symbolic burden, a country that remains "hermetically sealed", in a region that has known tensions and conflicts for decades.
Of course, Azerbaijan is not entirely oblivious to its image. For major events, such as the recent Formula 1 Grand Prix in Baku, there are relaxed visa procedures, allowing entry for fans and staff. However, this exemption does not change the overall picture. The country remains the only one in the world that still treats its borders as if it were 2020.

Kompleksi i fenomenit te izolimit, i miljona te vdekurve, i ngrirjes se aktiviteteve te jetes se perditshme, ndryshimi i papritur dhe i paparashikur i rutines se shoqerise njerezore qe ishte vendosur ketu e qindra vjet me pare, nuk kaloi pa pasoja. Qe do te thote ne keto kushte, me te vertete specifike per njerezimin, te gjithe tentojne ta fshijne nga memorja, si nje enderr e frikshme qe nuk mund te perseritet me ose qe nuk duhet te kujtohet, per te vetmin fakt, ndryshoi destinacionin komplet te rutines boterore duke i bere te ditur se si mund te shfaroset e gjitha ne nje hark kohor 6 mujor. Por Azerbaijan, nuk mund te anashkaloj kete pasoje memoriale, keshtu qe te gjitha pandemite me baze shendetin mendor dhe shendetin riprodhues i ka dekretuar ne sensin e endemise globale qe fuqizojne pikerisht kete shfarosje. Natyrisht mendoj te jape nje shpjegim " vazhdimit te mbylljes" duke e filluar me ndalimin e virusit ngjites te demtimit te "shendetit mendor"!

Të kujdesesh për shëndetin personal e shumë më tepër të vendit apo njerëzimit,është gjëja më e mirë që mund të bëjë çdonjëri.Ne jetojmë në vitet ku mjekësia është bërë biznes,nuk ofron shërbime cilësore shërimi e kujdesi, por është kthyer në një vampir që pi edhe pikën e fundit të gjakut.Njerëz të tillë e sigurt se kanë probleme të rënda mendore,sepse njerëzit e sëmurë e të dobët nuk ofrojnë gjë për shoqërinë,përveçse përhapin e transmetojnë sëmundje. Një njeri normal,i ndërgjegjshëm i zbaton rregullat e higjenës.
