Negev Plan; Sazan's Jared Kushner's cruel idea for Gaza
Jared Kushner

Kushner said he thinks Israel should move civilians from Gaza to the Negev desert in southern Israel.

While Jared Kushner's name has been in the news for days in Albania, due to the fact that the latter son-in-law of Donald Trump will invest in Sazan e Zvërnec, elsewhere he is shocking with his ideas on Gaza, where Israel is carrying out a genocide with the clear tendency to an ethnic cleansing.

More precisely, Jared Kushner praised the "very valuable" potential of Gaza's "water assets," suggesting that Israel should remove civilians while "cleansing" Palestinian territory along the Mediterranean Sea.

The former real estate trader, who is married to Donald Trump's daughter, said this in an interview at Harvard University on March 8, London newspaper The Guardian reported.

Kushner was a senior foreign policy adviser during Trump's tenure and was tasked with preparing a Middle East peace plan. Critics of the plan, which included an agreement to normalize relations between Israel and the Gulf states, said it sidestepped questions about the future of the Palestinians.

His remarks at Harvard hinted at what kind of Middle East policy might be pursued if Trump returns to the White House, including efforts for a normalization deal between Saudi Arabia and Israel.

"Property along the Gaza Strip can be very valuable [...] if people focus on creating livelihoods," Kushner told Professor Tarek Masoud, chairman of Harvard's Middle East Initiative, who conducted the interview.

He also said he regretted the "money" that was invested in tunnel networks and ammunition instead of education and innovation.

"It's a little bit like an unfortunate situation there, but I think from Israel's point of view I would do my best to get people out and then clean up that place," Kushner said, adding, "But I don't think Israel has said it does. I want people to come back later."

Kushner said, among other things, that he thinks Israel should move civilians from Gaza to the Negev desert in southern Israel.

The Negev Plan

Trump's son-in-law stated that if he were in charge of Israel, his priority would be to evict the Palestinians from the southern city of Rafah, adding that with "proper diplomacy" it is potentially possible to transfer them to Egypt, leaving understood to be a plan for the Negev desert in southern Israel.

"I would level a part of the Negev with a bulldozer and try to move people there. I know it won't be popular, but I think it's a better option, so someone can come in and finish the job in Gaza," he said.

Later, during the conversation with Masoud, he reiterated that he thought it would be "the right move".

Surprised by his proposal, Masoud asked him: "Is this something that is being talked about in Israel?"

"I mean, this is really the first time I've heard it from anybody, other than [Egyptian leader] President Sisi, who suggested that the people of Gaza, who are trying to escape the fighting, could find refuge in the Negev. Is this how Israel thinks about this possibility?", asked Masoud.

Kushner replied that "I don't know".

"Right now I'm sitting in Miami Beach, watching what's going on and thinking about what I would do if I was there," he said.
