The German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier has spoken about the situation in the Western Balkans as well as the membership of the states in the EU.
In a press conference held with Czech President Petr Pavel, in Prague, he stated that the expansion of the European Union is in strategic interest for Germany, but also for the EU itself.
"I am sure that EU membership has changed the Czech Republic, but the Czech Republic has also changed the European Union. Even today, EU enlargement is of central strategic interest to Germany, the Czech Republic and the European Union. "Germany stands close to the perspective of the membership of the candidate countries of the Western Balkans," he said.
