Donald Trump marked Cristiano Ronaldo's trip to the Oval Office this week by presenting him with a golden key to the White House, it can be revealed.
The US president met the Portuguese soccer star when he visited as part of a delegation of officials from Saudi Arabia, led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. It was the first time Ronaldo has been seen publicly in the US since a 2017 rape allegation by an American teacher, which he has always vehemently denied.
But he was welcomed with open arms by Trump, who gave the 40-year-old and his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez a tour of his office and a gift to commemorate the occasion.
The key is a rare and significant honor that is personal to Trump, who designed it himself, and not a convention for other U.S. presidents. Ronaldo's other recipients include Elon Musk, former Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso and Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, the first person Trump has bestowed one on in 2020.
Ronaldo, the first athlete to receive the gift, held the key as he and Rodriguez posed for a photo with Trump at his desk, and an official later confirmed to the Daily Mail that it was a key to the White House.
In another photo of Trump and Ronaldo getting to know each other, the soccer star can be seen holding a model of a stealth B-2 bomber that Trump used to attack Iran's nuclear facilities in June.
A single B-2 bomber costs about $2 billion, and Trump sent seven to Iran, dropping six massive 30,000-pound bombs and 30 Tomahawk missiles to destroy the nuclear plants at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.
Trump hailed the operation as 'a spectacular military success' at the time and new photos show he may have taken a moment to tell his celebrity guest all about the raid.
'Ronaldo is a GREAT DEVIL,' Trump wrote on Truth Social late Wednesday night, along with an artificial intelligence video showing them playing soccer together in the Oval Office.
'I really enjoyed meeting him at the White House. Really smart and nice!!!'
In May, Trump gave Elon Musk the same gift, thanking him for his work with DOGE.
"Elon provided an extraordinary service. There's no one like him, and he had to go through the slings and arrows, which is unfortunate, because he's an extraordinary patriot," Trump said, months before their friendship publicly collapsed.
In a sign of the renewed relationship, Musk was at the White House for the Saudi dinner on Tuesday and posed alongside Ronaldo for a selfie.
