Two planes, one American and one Russian, risked colliding near Alaska.
In footage released by the North American Aerospace Defense Command, the Russian jet passes very close to the American F-16. The incident was reported on September 23.
The US F-16 had deployed to airspace along the coast of Alaska to track another Russian aircraft, a TU-95 bomber, after it had entered Alaska's air defense identification zone.
The footage shows the dramatic moment a Russian fighter comes up behind and between the Russian bomber and the US jet, according to the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
The US Air Force pilot was forced to take quick action to avoid the tragedy.
For the incident in the air, the US accuses Russia. "The behavior of the Su-35 pilot was unsafe, unprofessional and very dangerous," said General Gregory Guillot, commander of the US Northern Command.
