At least 104 people were killed and 760 wounded in a chaotic incident in which Israeli troops opened fire on a crowd of starving Palestinian civilians gathering around food aid trucks, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
Civilians had crowded around newly arrived aid trucks hoping to get food when Israeli tanks and drones began firing on people on Haroun Al Rasheed Street in western Gaza City, in the Sheikh Ajleen area.
An Israeli official told CNN that Israeli troops used live fire on people surrounding the aid truck after "the crowd approached the forces in a way that posed a threat to the troops, who responded to the threat with screening fire."
" At some point, the trucks overturned and the people driving the trucks, who were Gazan civilian drivers, drove into the crowds, eventually killing dozens of people," Hyman said.
The death toll and the number of injured are expected to rise as many bodies and people are still on the road, with ambulances struggling to reach those in need as rubble is blocking the road, Ahmad Abu Al Foul told CNN.
