
The leader of Hamas has issued another threat to Israel. In a message sent today, he said that Israeli hostages held in the besieged Gaza Strip will suffer the same fate as Palestinian civilians being killed by Israel.
Ismail Haniyeh, speaking in a recorded video message, added that mediators must insist that the "massacre" of civilians in Gaza stop to avoid any further harm to the hostages.
He also called on people in Arab nations and in the West to step up protests in a bid to increase pressure on decision makers.

Earlier today, Hamas claimed seven hostages were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza yesterday. The militant group said three of the hostages were foreigners.
