President Donald Trump, after being informed of the killing of the 37-year-old in Minneapolis, has defended federal immigration officers (ICE) and accused Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey of inciting riots.
Trump accuses them of pulling local police from protecting federal immigration officers at the scene today.
“Where are the local police? Why weren’t they allowed to protect the ICE officers? The Mayor and Governor kicked them out? It is said that many of these police officers were not allowed to do their jobs, that ICE had to protect itself. Not an easy thing to do! ” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Trump also posted an image of what he said was the deceased's gun, questioning why it had two extra full magazines.
" This is the gunman's weapon, loaded (with two extra full magazines!), and ready to go. What is this about? " Trump said.
Trump also claimed the events are "a cover-up" for theft and fraud in the state, referring to the long-running controversy over Minnesota's allegedly fraudulent safety net programs.
"Among other things, this is a 'cover-up' for the billions of dollars that have been stolen from the once-great (but soon-to-be-great again!) state of Minnesota," Trump wrote on Social Truth.
