The head of the Republic Guard, Ermal Sali Onuzi, should not even be a simple official in the administration, because he is subject to the decriminalization law and the anti-mafia law, but has been left outside the reach of justice for 20 years, although during his duties in the security agencies, he has been filed and investigated 18 times for links to crime.
During his 12 years at SHISH, head guard Ermal Onuzi continued his connections with crime, having freedom of action and protection from former SHISH directors Bahri Shaqiri, Visho Ajazi-Lika and Helidon Bendo, due to the deception that he was allegedly the nephew of a powerful businessman.
According to information from the Durrës police and prosecution, Ermal Onuzi was involved in criminal activities of gangs and several businesses in Durrës in the years 2010-2020, with the object of drug and weapons trafficking, fuel and car smuggling, passing wanted persons with false documents, and money laundering in construction and tourism businesses.
As a SHISH officer with an area of operation in Durrës, Ermal Onuzi was tasked with tracking criminal activity, while he became part of their support and concealment.
He was part of the trafficking of 613 kg. of cocaine, seized in February 2018 in containers of Arbër Çekaj's "Arbi Garden" banana company, but was not included in the investigative file.
The name of former SHISH officer Ermal Onuzi, currently director of the Guard, appears in 5 DEA reports in the years 2012-2021, as part of the cocaine trafficking carried out by Trifon Murataj and Ben Qimja with the company "Bana King"; in the cocaine trafficking carried out by the company "Alba Exotic Fruit" of Eduart Dauti from Vlora and in the trafficking of 137 kg. of cocaine introduced by Gentian Malindi in September 2019.
But Ermal Onuz's name also turned out to be involved in the trafficking of the Shijak groups and the drug laboratory in Has; in 7 cases of fuel smuggling, in 4 cases of car smuggling, in 10 cases of passing wanted persons with false passports through the Port of Durres and in 3 cases of trafficking in weapons and remote-controlled mines, in addition to the smuggling of scrap metal.

Ermal Onuzi continued his involvement in criminal activities in the period March 2023-January 2024, when he was the Director of Anti-trafficking and Anti-smuggling Operations at the private security company "S2 Secure Albania" in the Port of Durrës.
The name of the head of the Guard is also in the personal file at SHISH, for collaboration with crime, and he was transferred 9 times to different sectors within SHISH, but former directors Bahri Shaqiri, Visho Ajazi and Helidon Bendo did not fire him and did not file criminal charges against him.
His name was also mentioned in March 2012 by the Durrës Prosecution Office, in the investigative report no. 211/2 for the murder of the Deputy Director of the SHISH of the Durrës branch; who was found burned inside the car on October 24, 2011 in Currilat.
He was tracking a fuel, drug and ammo smuggling network in the Port of Durres, where according to a preliminary investigation by the Durres police and prosecution and by SHISH itself, it turned out that former SHISH officer Ermal Onuzi, Director of the Republic Guard for 7 months, was also involved.
It is not known why, after 4 years of investigations, the police, the prosecution and SHISH itself, which is the highest level of crime investigation and detection, jointly closed the file on the murder of the head of SHISH-Durres; but it is known that every time Ermal Onuzi is mentioned the name and murder of his colleague Isa Çopa, he becomes anxious and nervous./ Pamphlet
