In the interview given to the French magazine "Le Point", Prime Minister Edi Rama, after denying many problems of his government and contacts with unfriendly countries, told several lies that are obvious facts, and revealed a scheme to favor maritime traffic that does not pass through ports.
FIRST LIE / When asked why he is privatizing Sazan Island, this strategic military zone and international hub, by giving it to Donald Trump's son-in-law as a resort, Edi Rama replied that it was not privatized, but was given for tourist investment.
The truth is that Edi Rama has removed Sazan Island from the list of strategic military bases and legally donated 45 hectares to Jared Kushner for the resort project, while "de facto" he has given the entire island to him for yacht ports, airports, service facilities and prohibits other private and state activities on the island, except for clients for the Trump family resort.
SECOND LIE / Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that China is a reality far from us, since Albania is the only European country that does not have and does not accept Chinese investments.
The truth is that China has many investments in Albania, even in strategic sectors such as the oil concession with "Bankers", other gas and oil extraction areas, investments and partnerships in 53 HPPs, and in chromium and copper mining concessions.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, through his brother, Olsi Rama, negotiated to grant the Chinese company "M.POS Limited" the 100 million Euro concession to collect VAT from businesses.
Meanwhile, with the Chinese companies "Zhejiang Haiteng Investment Co" and "Beijing Dongrun Tongbao Technology Co", he signed a concession for an industrial park on 500 hectares of free state land in Durrës Hospital, with a usage period of 99 years.
THIRD LIE / Edi Rama said that Albania has no relations with Russia, and is the only European country that has not had a high-level visit from Moscow since 1960.
The truth is that on December 8, 2004, the former Foreign Minister of the Socialist Party Government, Kastriot Islami, invited and hosted in Albania an official delegation of the Russian Federation headed by the Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, with whom he signed the unconditional friendship treaty between the two states and several economic, military and cultural agreements.
On February 26, 2020, Edi Rama, under the guise of the OSCE Chairman, went to Moscow and met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, accompanied by his advisor Baton Haxhiu and journalist Sokol Balla, where he lobbied for a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, but failed to achieve it.
On September 22, 2013, during his first official visit as prime minister to the US, American services reported that Edi Rama held a secret meeting in New York with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
On April 20, 2018, Prime Minister Edi Rama donated 800 hectares of state land to the US-sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, for investment in agricultural farms and resorts in Divjaka, adding 68 hectares of land on December 30, 2025, while in Vlora he granted him a concession for a hydroelectric power plant.
FAVORING MARITIME TRAFFIC / Regarding the question of whether there is an international military observation post on the island of Sazan; Prime Minister Edi Rama said that Albania does not need this island as a strategic military post; but it is a minimal, almost invisible radar.
The truth is that until June 2015, a powerful radar base was installed and in active service on Sazan Island, while now only 1 simple radar has been formally left.
Besides the radar's small, limited capacity and lack of data recording for maritime movements, it is out of order most of the time due to defects that cannot be repaired, but it is also intentionally turned off to allow and not report traffic./ Pamphlet
