The scandal with the fuel labeling concession has taken on other dimensions. The fuel trading companies have addressed an official letter to the General Directorate of Customs and the Ministry of Finance, where they complain that the marking fee is being illegally taken from them, since the marking concession has been legally terminated.
"According to the provisions of the contract, it appears that the fuel marking concession between the Albanian government and the GFI Albania company has ended on February 27, 2023," says the letter sent by the oil trading companies. Under these conditions, they remind the government that the stamp duty is being illegally taken from them.
"After many contacts with the customs authorities, I am forced to address you officially with a request because we are being illegally forced to pay a fee of 614 lek per 1,000 liters plus Value Added Tax on behalf of the concessionaire company "GFI ALBANIA". it is stated in the letter addressed to the Ministry of Finance and Customs.
According to the oil trading companies, even though the end of the concession is accepted by the concession company GFI Albania itself, surprisingly there is no reaction from the Ministry of Finance.
"Starting from these facts, we request the implementation of the concession contract and the immediate termination of the illegal payment, which directly increases the price for consumers.
